Review: Sephora Play! October 2017

Time to review another subscription box!

This month’s theme was “Public Display of Complexion.”

Skin Laundry Hydrating Cream Face Wash

This is my first time trying anything from Skin Laundry. I like the design of the bottle and it just looks It has sort of a citrusy grapefruit scent but it’s manageable. I like the creaminess of the cleanser, and although I usually prefer a facial cleanser that foams more, this really makes my face feel squeaky clean. The only downside for me is that due to the low sud aspect, I feel like I need to use more to get that super bubbly result I love so much! I have also gotten about 5 uses out of this small bottle and I’m only about halfway through it!

The full size bottle sells for $20 on Sephora.

Dr. Brandt Pores No More Luminzer Primer

This will be my second product from Dr. Brandt this month, the first being from this month’s BoxyCharm..

Ok so I don’t know if it’s just my skin type or what, but a few hours after putting my makeup on, baking it in and the whole nine yards, around my nose is where my makeup starts to separate! I used this a few times hoping that maybe since it is named “Pores No More” that it would close up those unsightly pores around my nose. It didn’t work so well with my usual L’Oréal Infallible foundation, but today I used it with my new Too Faced Peaches and Cream Foundation and it did better! So maybe it was my foundation. Anyway, this primer is pretty good!

It sells for $38

Gucci Bloom

I have usually had bad luck with perfume samples in my Sephora bags. It’s really a hit or miss in my experience. This one was a pleasant surprise! I really like the fresh floral scent and the fact that its Gucci makes it all the better, I feel classy when I wear this stuff and I love that the scent doesn’t disappear after putting it on!

Full size sells from $34-$124

Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops in “Moonlight”

This was the one thing that I couldn’t wait to get! For a long time I have been wanting to try these drops because all of the MUAs on YouTube create gorgeous looks with it, and because I’m a little nuts over highlighters. I made the mistake of putting in on top of my already baked face and well that didn’t look so great the first time using it. Now I think I figured it out- After foundation and set with powder, but not baked. It gives a beautiful glow like I am always after!

The full bottle sells for $42

Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Foundation Shade Y445

Ok so unfortunately this shade was WAY off. I have no idea how this happened, but all is well because I went this weekend and got color matched so now I have my ColorIQ and hopefully future boxes will be made for me!

Full bottle sells for $43

Sephora Instant Moisture+ Cream

This is a pretty good moisturizer! There is a floral scent to it that lingers for a while after putting it on, so if scents bother you I would say to skip this! It feels very pampering on my skin, but after using this twice I noticed some breakouts on my chin and jawline.  I do like that it contains Hyaluronic acid to support and retain moisture  levels in the skin, and is pretty light on my skin, doesn’t leave a nasty feel.

Full bottle sells for $23

Final Thoughts

I am pretty happy I decided to come back to the Sephora Play gang.  I love being able to try out higher end brands and even though they are usually sample size, I can get a good bit of uses out of them!
