Maybelline City Minis- Review & Swatches

Another weekend has came and went and its already the dreaded Monday morning.  At least this week is a 3 day work week for me, we are going out of town to visit family for Thanksgiving and hopefully catch some deals on Black Friday!

This weekend, I went to Walgreens with the sole intention of only picking up a prescription, but as makeup obsessed as I am, I got side tracked by the Maybelline City Minis that were on sale for $7.99.  I have been looking for a nice frosty blue shadow for some holiday looks, so I grabbed the “Concrete Runway” palette which has a bold shimmery blue and a silvery glitter.  The City Mini Palette X Shayla also caught my eye, because I am really loving reds and gold shadows right now.

When swatching both of these palettes, I was surprised by how silky and pigmented they are.  I know some brands like to use that annoying glitter overspray to make shadows look glittery, but this one seems like its a true shimmer and glitter shadow.  I really like the shimmery blue and silver.

The favorite out of the two, Shayla’s palette.  I am living for this color combination right now!  The reds paired with the beautiful gold shimmers just go together so well, and so many looks can be created with both of these palettes!

Even though I wont be using the blue palette as often, I am still happy to have it in my collection for special occasions where a blue smoky eye is needed.  Blues are the one shadow color that I have always shied away from.  It can really go to crap if not done just right, and I don’t want to be “that girl.”  I think maybe I can use this to practice and leave the good old comfort zone.

If you are interested in picking these palettes up, Walgreens has them for $7.99 after a $2.00 coupon!
