Review: January 2018 ipsy “Game Face”

Gave my January ipsy bag products a run, now time for the reviews!

The Pouch

I really love how stretchy and durable this little pouch is this month!  It really feels like it will withstand a beating!  I am also a fan of all of the bright neon green and pink!

So Susan Matte Lipstick in shade “Pumpkin”

This is the first time I’ve ever tried a lipstick from So Susan.  I have a blending brush from them and love it.  I like the orangish nude shade of this lippy, and to me it has sort of an orange dreamsicle scent, which is very nice!   The only thing about this though is that when it dries down, its like extremely sticky!  But, I like to add a small coat of clear lip gloss over the top anyway so it doesn’t bother me that much, and the color stays for a very long time!

Dermelect Microfacial Exfoliating Masque

I used this last night after taking my makeup off and the directions say to “massage in circular motions then leave on for 12 minutes, then rinse.”  I did this, and after washing it off, OMG MY FACE WAS BABY SOFT!  It had a sort of fresh minty zing scent to it and felt so very refreshing.  This stuff is a keeper!

Vasanti Kajal Waterline Eyeliner

Initially, I was super excited to get this since it is made specifically for the water line, and in the product description it claimed to safe for contact wearers.  But when I used it, it didn’t seem to go on very easy.  It wasn’t creamy or dark and I really had to put some effort into making it show up.  That is the two most important features in an eyeliner when I am considering the right one for me.  They have to glide on effortlessly and show up!  This was a bust unfortunately.

The Balm Mary Lou-Manizer

Very happy to finally get to try this stuff, since I’ve seen it all over social media.  It has a faint shimmer to it, and is very blendable!  I like to use it mainly on the inner corners of my eyes for a more “awake” look and it works just fine.  I don’t think this is considered a “blinding” highlighter or anything, and it looks good if you want just a subtle glow on your face, but of course I like a super shimmery highlight, so I will just probably stick to using it in the inner corners.

Eye Artist by Absolute New York Eyeshadow in “Posse”

I had never even heard of this brand before getting this.  I love how ipsy supports lesser known brands!  This shadow is a beautiful reddish shimmer, and is very silky and easily blends out.  I am a sucker for red shadows, and this is a keeper!

Final Thoughts

Overall this month’s glam bag was a pretty good one, with my faves being the Dermelect, lipstick and the eyeshadow!  I think I’m going to start bagging up some things I didn’t care for and either donate them to a women’s shelter in town or give to my coworkers who think I have waaayyy too much makeup lol!

Have a beautiful day!! x
