L’Oreal Infallible Matte-Lock Mattifying Primer #120
I saw this staring back at me on the shelf at Walgreens one day, when I wasn’t even planning to buy any makeup. I was trying to be on a “no buy,” but sometimes impulse takes the best of us.
Lately, I discovered that I have to have matte everything. Matte primer, matte foundation, mattifying concealer…because I got tired of being super oily around my nose, chin and forehead, I’ve become obsessed with matting my skin out. So this primer was a definite need in my ever growing collection!
I paid $12.99 at Walgreens, and the tube is pretty big at 30ml/1 oz.
I’ve been using Benefit’s Porefessional primer exclusively on my nose, since I have large pores there, and I don’t exactly love the scent of it…also because it’s pretty expensive, and I don’t want to use it all up too fast! So I thought this would be good to use for the rest of my face.
This primer has a different consistency to it, unlike what I’m used to with silicone based matte primers that are usually clear and very silicone like feeling, think Smashbox. This is white and creamy, similar to the feel of a moisturizer. It feels nice and smooth upon application, not at all tacky or sticky and doesn’t leave that weird silk feeling on my hands (like Porefessional).
I have been using it every single day for the past 2 weeks, and I have to say I am very impressed with it! I like to pair it with the L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte foundation, and I get a very smooth and very matte result every time. It works well with my other *matte* foundations too!
I have very long workdays, I am up at 5 every morning and do my makeup then work all day, getting home around 5 in the afternoon, so I have to have a reliable arsenal of makeup to last 12+ hours. What’s good about using this primer is I don’t find myself having to touch up with blotting powder as often when I use this, and haven’t had any issues with foundation separation. I feel that it really does lock in the matte finish, while not giving a dried out feeling- so this is a keeper!
Have any of you tried this primer yet? I wonder how many times I said matte in this post? lol
